What does «накручивать себя» Russian expression mean?

The Russian verb «накручивать»   comes from the verb «крутить» 

The verb «крутить»  denotes - to twist, to roll, to twirl, to curl, to screw.
1) The prefix «на» emphasizes this motion and denotes to to twist, to roll, to twirl something too strong, or too much. 

When Im going to the party - I stay at home and «накручиваю волосы»  (doing curls)   As it sheep on the picture does. 

2) You can also use this Russian verb when you want to express overestimated or ovevalued prices, rates or results. 

  • В процессе выборов были накручены голоса. 
  • Цены были накручены.   (in this situation we have the noun «накрутка» - which means the difference between the wholesale  and the seller’s price, for example  «накрутка в 100 %» 
  • Эта группа слишком большая. Наверное, накрутили лайки.

3) And the last meaning of «накручивать» is used with Russian reflexive pronoun "себя"  means  to be angry, excited, or upset about something without any reason, to think about something or future from the negative position. Usually  young moms or wives «накручивают себя» thinking about their children or husbands. 

For example:  
-Он мне не звонит уже третий день! Наверное, я ему не понравилась! -Не надо себя накручивать, может  он просто потерял твой номер телефона. 

-Маши нет уже второй час. Наверное, ее сбила машина, она попала в больницу или что-то случилось! - Не накручивай себя, ребенок просто заигрался во дворе.
